Gee, Paul Bortolazzo, if he passed from this Life with no belief in the (a) Almighty, how tragic.
For he was blessed by fame, wealth & good family & friends, and he should have realized that.
I will pray for his soul

Your right, Pete, the incarnation the Son of God becoming human to die for the sins of mankind is the most amazing truth ever-even greater than music.

what ? did the “Lord” need a reminder ?

Can’t we make our “gods” a little less human ?

A truly great song writer and genuinely lovely guy.

What a great singer. How tragic he didn’t know the Lord when he died.

It was rainin hard in Frisco,
I needed one more fare to make my night,
A lady up ahead tried to flag me down
I splashed her on the right.
Where ya goin to, my lady fair,
(giggling) it seems you ruined your gown
    in the rain.
    She just quietly cursed me
    and said 16 Parkside Lane
    Something about her was familiar
I said I know I’ve seen that puss before.
She just quietly cursed me, and didn’t say anything more
It took a while ‘fore I looked in the mirror as she glanced at the license

Taxi is such a good song. It makes me live into a decent story sometimes.

He was a beautiful person and lives on in my memory. He is in Heaven and someday we’ll hear him sing again.

I was working in Great Neck and things were cleared up by the time I went home. Every day for the next several years I would look at the spot on the dividing wall and think of the man who wrote Cats in the cradle. A song that meant a lot to me at the time.

i had this song memorized when i was still a child of seven… my uncle gave me the album… since then, i have grown up to become a metalhead… and yet, when i hit the bars on karaoke nights, i will still sing this one… metal may be great music, but let us never forget the great oldies… this song is just beautiful… high or not… god bless harry chapin…

I remember the day harry was killed. It was around Hicksville Long Island on the the L.I.E. I was returning to Deer Park from the city. I drove for Massa Trucking Corp back then. The road was at a stind still. I was shocked when i heard who was in that wreck. “R.I.P. Harry”

i always get that feeling when i put in one of his TAPES yes i will have the tapes. thank you for this, nice to know he was truly a gentleman.

Those of you that would have loved to have met Harry, he would have made you feel that he loved meeting you too! I was fortunate many time (3-4) to have met him at his concerts and he was as nice as he seems. I tell you, there is only Harry Chapin and Duane Allmann that I would have loved to see what great things they would have produced throughout their lives.

What a beautiful man inside and out. I’ll never forget my parents had tickets to see his show when he was killed. I remember my mother breaking down like i had never seen before. You were a true spirt Harry and a true gentleman. Rest in peace

  19. Starrman69March 13, 2010 @ 8:46 am

Man, he was something to see in concert.
Afterwards he’d be out in the lobby meeting people and signing autographs…it was such a long time ago..Rest In Peace Harry…..

What a story, this man truly had an eviable talent…

One of the few people I actually admire and would feel intimadated by if I ever could have met them. When I hear the word decent, I think of Harry Chapin & my Mother. Both were text book examples of all that was, is, and can still be good with the world.

    genius at work

  23. noff27March 13, 2010 @ 9:34 am

    Keep the change, Harry!

  24. muzac4themassesMarch 13, 2010 @ 9:47 am

Hey Sliv, take it down a notch. I’m a friend not a foe. {see my white flag?} I am agreeing with you. Double Ott Fowlers got issues.

  25. sliv812March 13, 2010 @ 10:07 am

OK. You’re right. Ober came after Chapin, so I reversed it accidentally. My bad. At least you weren’t being a complete brainless arse like that dumb wanker 00fowlers is.
