I’m taking an Amtrak train to NYC. When my train arrives in NYC do I have to take a taxi or subway into Manhattan? Is Penn station in Manhattan?

For 1 person with 1 suitcase, would it be better to schedule a town car or just get in line for a taxi at JFK on a Saturday morning? Carmel, Dial7, and A1 New York Limo all seem to be about the same cost as a taxi.
I’m told that because it’s Independence Day, a significant amount of drivers take the day off, and so it can be difficult to get a taxi. Also, I’m told that on Independence Day it can take longer to get into Manhattan than usual.
We are getting married this summer in Manhattan, and wanted to get one of those classic taxi cabs to take us to a few spots to take pictures. I’ve been having trouble finding a place that has these, but I know they exist. Anyone know where to find them?
